Hello earthlings! I have been ecstaticly fascinated by the divine magic of your ever evolving music creations and instruments. Latest years i have experimented with it and found great pleasure in making music.
- I am very grateful to hear about and share what techniques and gear you out there/in here are using and discovering!....
The universe is a trippy symphony, and i love the psychedelic musical expressions you are creating! Music and dancing is the most harmonically blissful way to celebrate our existence, lets do it every day!

the old site had a gear list page tho also an interesting page www.soundonsound.com/sos/1997_articles/jan97/eatstatic.htmllast month I was in Tokyo so visited to famous "vintage" gear shops(for first time to them actually) SH-101 almost twice as expensive from when I started and so fantasised of those... I should've bought at that time... (had a TC PoCo. (which included 101-ish emu) now you see them on eBay.. what the hell are those prices? esp. red/blue ones... so are 909 808... (t'was under 1k, now well over 1k) and NS10M(these, trice as high!!!) by the way, Hi Merv. congrats for the new site! love it!

hi there, new user of forum! just thought i'd give my lo-fi tech spec, incase i can learn anything. got cuabse, a dusty old roland mc505, some old afro drums, and quite good at getting a blend of rock n roll energy with psychedelic techno things going on. would love to learn more about arrangments using cubase (i think the adhd gets in the way a bit, wich is a pity as my head streams constant psychedelic noise) and was about to start learning traktor for blending things intoi my own stuff, till my sound card fried! and cant re-instal new one! :-( (yes, i've tried everything, but will have to reformat etc)
am having to (when sound card works) use the analog inputs with mc505 groovebox, (as i aint got midi ins yet) but want to get beyond just good loops. so sharing advice and tips would really help me.
you know, it confuddles me how to get tunes that do more than loop with techno-ology, and how to do that LIVE. so tips like that would be helpful, as many of us aint masters but still wanna contribute valid psychedelic expression among the community! (what ever happened to club dog/mega dog? <3) maybe find some folk not too far away to jam with (tho that can b such a pain in the ass with elctro toys).
also tips i'd like are ones that dont mean i have to be well employed! so lo-fi cheapness for me!!!! for me! :-) i did lose an old tiesco synth years ago. boy was it good for gong/hawkwind noises!

cubase you say zenomerv? hmmm, i've had cubase for sometime, and seem to learn in little spurts. was wondering about the onboard filters, i tend to just flip them around and if i happen to get a sound that fits, then that'll do me. any tips for more deliberate cubase filtering? for eg, i heard recently that one can for eg filter out the "music" and have a voice fore-front? or filter the ddrums to the front when dealing with a sample? also i can find the onboard filters a little "scratchy" sounding. any tips? i kno there are "better" than cubase around (but i dont want to get into that), but i have an affinity with it as i have had it for so long and it was my first "studio". so, to recap, any tips of making the onboard filters more clean sounding? and being more precise~? or is that PURELY just personal ear? simple basic , maybe naive questions, but thats the best way to get anwswers instead of playing it cool i find.

I've mucked about with Reason for quite a while. I didn't really sink my teeth into Cubase. Why do you prefer Cubase, Merv? I also need to replace my Korg workstation for mobility. Any suggestions?

I still have got a Reason T-shirt.. maybe 5 times (10 the most) worn in 10yrs.. etpharaoh if you allow me to mention some suggestion to you .. did you check Korg microX? the same engine with Triton they say... not precisely a workstation (do you need a seq part?) but seems to be lots of sounds in it.. and once I touched and indeed that Piano.. but what??? discontinued? (even I knew it now) really? so, only eBay or Gumtree then... it was released just a couple of years ago wasn't it? I didn't dislike it at all tho... c'mmon Korg, recent "MONO" series, attractive, but something (quite a a lot) are missing.. you discontinued MS2k years ago, and now micro X? it is so disappointing.

I just like the interface, and i like the way you build a track as you go..Logic seems to make everything head towards looping...

How do you feel about software versus hardware? Have you ever used reaktor?

How do you feel about software versus hardware? Have you ever used reaktor? i dont think most folk find any conflict as long as you are getting the expression you need rom whatever form the instrumentation takes. whether banging rocks together, or using top range state-of the art, as long as you make that noise you hear in your head, and you are generating that energy that makes you enjoy, then its ALL technology, from elestic bands on a box, to top range synths.

Merv, I'm wondering if you could share some secrets behind the sound of the last minute of Valley Of The Moon (that amazing vocal twist), and that "Eat Static" show trick... I'm fascinated by how it is possible to control the flow of the sound, and I'm dreaming to master this technique as well. The problem is I can't imagine what kind of effect/device might be used for that purpose... Will be grateful seeing any advice!
